XL Airways France Review: JFK -> CDG

I recently flew XL Airways France from New York JFK to Paris CDG in Economy.  And since XL Airways is somewhat of an unknown airline in the U.S., I decided to review it, especially after all the negative reviews that I read on Yelp!

By way of background, I have been curious about XL Airways France for years, seriously.  XL Airways France is a French airline that flies between JFK and CDG, along with many other routes, and often offers cheaper prices than any other carrier (by hundreds of dollars).  I pulled the trigger and bought these tickets solely because of the price.

Restaurant Review: Phoenicia Diner, Catskills, New York

A few weeks ago I spent a weekend in the Catskills Mountains.  Specifically, Phoenicia.  Phoenicia is a small town (technically a “hamlet”), about 20 minutes from Woodstock (the more well-known town in the area), in the Catskills Mountains.  The town is tiny, with one main road, surrounded by mountains with lots of hiking.  Phoenicia has recently received press by way of a few new business ventures opening in the sleepy town, including the Phoenecia Diner – which is probably the most popular place to eat in the area!  Vouge magazine mentioned it in a piece on travel in the Catskills Mountains a while ago, and it seems to be all the rage with the hipster crowd.

Brewery Spotlight: Carton Brewing, Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey

Carton Brewing Company – commonly referred to as just Carton (like a carton of milk) –  is a craft brewery located in Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey.  Carton has gained a lot of popularity in the last year or so, and has quickly become one of my favorite breweries!  Carton makes  excellent and creative beers, from a super smooth session ale to a Russian  imperial stout brewed with freeze dried ice cream to my favorite, an imperial cream ale called Regular Coffee at 12% ABV.  Some of my recent favorites:

Lounge Review: Delta Sky Club, Terminal 4, JFK

I used Delta’s Sky Club Lounge in Terminal 4 of JFK when I was flying Delta on a short flight to Québec City. I got in by combining my Delta boarding pass with my American Express Platinum card. The Sky Club was huge, rather crowded and had some pretty interesting features, including its unique roof top deck! It was one of the nicer lounges that I have visited, and I will definitely return if I have complimentary access again.

Brewery Spotlight: Tired Hands Brewing Company, Ardmore, PA

Tired Hands Brewing Company is a small, but quickly growing, brewery in Ardmore, PA.  Tired Hands opened in 2011 and since has developed quite a cult following, and for good reason.  Well known for their saisons and IPAs, Tired Hands has won a number of awards for its beers and its limited can releases draw huge crowds and trade for the best of beers.

Since I love beer, Tired Hands gets rave reviews, and it opened just minutes from where I attended law school, I made the trip to try it out this past weekend!  I enjoyed my visit and would recommend a visit to anyone in the PA/NJ area who enjoys craft beer, or food.  Their food was as good as the beer in my opinion.  In any case, Tired Hands is definitely worth the trip from Philadelphia if you are there.

Prior to visiting, there are a couple points to know.  Tired Hands is split into two locations about a 5 minute walk from each other – the Brew Cafe and the Fermenteria.  You should try to visit both, because they have different tap lists.  Public parking is available in the general area, but, except on Sundays, you will likely need to feed a coin meter every two hours.
