JFK is one of our 3 “home” airports. I visit often, and I always make sure to check out the Capital One Lounge JFK food options when passing through Terminal 4. You can read about the lounge generally here. This post, however, is specifically about the food at JFK’s Capital One Lounge. One of the most important things for me before a long haul (or honestly, short haul) flight is knowing where and what I can eat. This post details the food options at JFK’s Capital One Lounge in detail so you will know what to expect. Capital One’s food program is just as strong at its newest New York location, where José Andrés runs the menu. See our review of the Capital One Landing at LGA.
JFK Capital One Lounge food options.
Before I dive into specifics, food at the JFK Capital One Lounge takes three forms: (1) a cold/room temperature self-serve buffet, (2) hot made-to-order (“MTO”) dishes, and (3) a “NYC bodega” preparing fresh bagel sandwiches, with a few other items on offer. All of this is included with lounge access, and you can order/eat as much as you want.
The NYC-Inspired Bodega
One of the more exciting parts of the JFK Capital One Lounge is its NYC-inspired bodega. And, if you don’t know what a bodega is, it is an NYC institution – typically a small, owner-operated convenience store serving hot and prepared food, as well as selling convenience store things, often open late hours. Every New Yorker has their own bodega. Just ask, LOL. Bodegas as also quite famous for serving New York bagels and coffee.

Just as you enter the JFK Capital One Lounge, you are met with a relatively authentic “bodega” right in the lounge. The Capital One Bodega, as I will call it, offers a selection of fresh NYC bagels brought in daily from Ess-a-Bagel (a legit local bagel proprietor). They smell delicious, and you can order one just as a bagel or as a sandwich, which are delicious. Breakfast sandwiches are prepared in the morning, and more lunch/dinner style sandwiches are offered in the evening. Now, it’s not a free-for-all whatever you want, but there are several options. I LOVE the pastrami bagel sandwich. It’s on par with a real bodega sandwich in the City. The Bodega also serves the bagels in the cutest to-go bags, so that you can take them on the plane if necessary.

Espresso, Deli, and Bar Snacks
In addition to the bagels, the Capital One Bodega makes espresso beverages and has a small take-away deli counter offering pre-prepared salads and wraps, often of the healthy and/or vegetarian variety. The blue boxes on the bottom shelf are boxed water to take away.

To enjoy anything from the NYC Bodega, just walk up and order. It is, indeed, included in the lounge visit. While there can be a small wait here, I have never waited more than 15 minutes for a hot sandwich. There are also a few “bar snacks” for taking while one waits for their bagel.

The Self-Serve Buffet: Capital One Lounge JFK Food
Past the Bodega to the left is a dining room with both savory and sweet self-serve buffets. The self-serve buffet is good for those want to grab something very quickly, those eating on the healthy side, and those wanting to see what the food looks like prior to ordering.
On the savory side, the lounge prepares five or six savory dishes in the form of small plates, which are continuously replenished. Guests help themselves, and silver trays and cutlery are there for one to carry the food back to their seat. The savory section is, at least in my opinion, on the healthy side, and dishes change slightly every season.
During various visits, I have seen deviled eggs, which are always incredibly delicious, Brussels sprouts, bruschetta, a Panzanella salad (so great!), and even a seasonal corn dish. Some photos of the options are below:

On the sweet buffet, the Capital One Lounge offers a selection of sweet pastries, delicious cookies (the cookies are always a winner in my book), and usually another dessert or two. The desserts are individual sized, and there are take-away bags if you need to take a cookie for the plane (always recommended).

Hot MTO Food at the Capital One Lounge JFK
If you have more than a few minutes, the JFK Capital One Lounge also offers small, MTO dishes, which you order via a QR code available on all of the tables in the lounge, as well as the bar. Like the buffet, the menu changes seasonally, but you can count on 5 – 7 hot dishes being offered per visit. I would note that these MTO dishes are small (much smaller than those in the Chase Sapphire Reserve Lounge). Luckily, one can order as much as one wants. These dishes usually come out pretty fast. I usually wait around 10 minutes, longer during peak hours. Capital One Lounge staff bring the dishes to your table.

While the dishes can change, I have enjoyed the Mac and Cheese multiples times. This is always a a winner, and it is NOT a 5-year-olds dish. The slider, which is just one slider, is also a standard offering pretty tasty. The soup in the winter months is also always good.

Murray’s Cheesemonger
The JFK Capital One Lounge is further home to a Murray’s Cheese outlet, which is an artisanal cheese and specialty foods retailer based in Greenwich Village in New York City open since 1962. It is truly a New York institution. In the back of the Capital One Lounge, there is a small cheese counter run by Murray’s where guests can participate in a complimentary 45 minute cheese and wine pairing. I have never done this (never enough time!), but if you want to do it, you would immediately beeline to the Cheese Counter and place your name on the waiting list. I really hope to do this on my next visit (even if I have to leave SUPER early).

Walking Food Cart
Finally, and this is just bonus food in my opinion, at times, staff walk around the lounge and offer guests small bites paired with some sort of beverage, be it tea or alcohol. This is in line with Murray’s pairing style. I would note that this does not always happen, and I think I have only experienced it twice, both during slow hours. That being said, it is a fun surprise!

STEAL OUR TRIP
New York City (JFK) Capital One Lounge: Located post-security on the main level (one floor down from security) in the shopping plaza toward the B Gates. Open 7 days a week, 24 hours. We accessed the Capital One Lounge with our Capital One Venture X credit cards (yes, we each have one). Everything is included with entrance to the lounge, making the Capital One Lounge JFK food selection a great value.
The Capital One Venture X Credit Card cardholder currently receives complimentary access to the lounge. Additional cardholders on that account can receive yearly, unlimited access for an annual fee of $125 per cardholder. Primary cardholders that spend at least $75,000 total on purchases across their Venture X account per calendar year can bring up to 2 complimentary guests to Capital One Lounges. This benefit also applies to additional cardholders on the account who’ve paid the $125 annual lounge access fee.
Venture X cardholders can also purchase passes for guests to Capital One Lounges at discounted rates of $45 per visit per guest 18 and older, and $25 per visit per guest 17 and under. Children under two are free. The pass is purchased at the point of entry (not in advance). I just did this for a colleague. The charge just posted on my Capital One Venture X card as “Capital One $45.”
