If you read my previous post, you know that Dan and I had a lovely stay at Iliada Sunset Suites during our time in Naxos last summer (July 2025). And by lovely, I really, really, really loved this boutique hotel. I found it quintessentially Greek and incredibly charming. This post reviews Iliada Sunset Suites in detail.

ILIADA SUNSET SUITES LOCATION
Iliada Sunset Suites is located in Chora, or Naxos Town, in Naxos, Greece, which is the island’s main, and largest, town. It is set on a hill above Grotta Beach, offering stunning views of the heart of Naxos Town and the famous Portara (aka the Temple of Apollo). The area directly surrounding the hotel is comprised of other, small hotels/rentals and a hill/turned parking lot that tourists walk down to get to and from Chora (although there is a longer, less steep route, too). It’s location is pretty quiet, without much to immediately walk to. Lots of restaurants and shops are located in Chora’s heart, which is about a 5 – 10 minute walk from the hotel.

THE HOTEL
Iliada Sunset Suites, like many hotels in Naxos, is small, with only has 9 rooms, all of which are described as suites, spread over two floors. Each room is different with its own character and charm. A checkin area doubles as a bar and breakfast area. Aside from that space, the only other common room is the hotel’s gorgeous infinity pool on the backside of the property.

Iliada Sunset Suites. DREAMY.
There is no elevator at Iliada Sunset Suites, there is parking for guests near the hotel, and, in true Greek fashion, several hotel cats have made Iliada their home. These cats were pretty sweet – one even made it to our second floor balcony to partake in our sunset hour (no idea how he got up there or back down!)

THE SUITES
Important for booking, each suite at Iliada is different and offers different perks. We stayed in the Helen Suite, which is located on the second floor of the hotel. When we opened our door, we were welcomed into a living space with a cool curved couch – very chic. This area also housed a small refrigerator, coffee maker, and tea kettle. Coffee and tea were complimentary. The refrigerator was empty to fill as we pleased (which I always like).

The Bedroom
Our bedroom area was a separate space, holding a full length mirror, a Queen bed, and an open closet area, complete with an extra blanket, robes, and an iron. While the bed’s mattress looked pretty thin, it was very comfortable. We had no complaints.

The Restroom
Behind the bedroom, and just off the living area, was the room’s small bathroom, which included a small shower, right next to the toilet, and a small sink area. Honestly, the size of this bathroom was my least favorite thing about this room. Aside from the size, there was nothing wrong with the bathroom. The shower was hot and worked well, and the hotel provided nice soap and shampoo to use, as well as towels and a hair dryer. It was just tiny.

Our Deck
One of my favorite things about the Helen Suite was the spacious deck just off our bedroom. The deck included a table with two chairs offering views of the Portara, the hotel’s pool, and insane sunsets.

I couldn’t get enough.

I LOVED this deck.

Our Hot Tub
The very best part of our room at Iliada Sunset Suites, however, was our very own private hot tub. Indeed, a full size, slightly old school, hot tub was located right on our balcony. To use it, all we needed to do was to take off the top and turn it on. The hot tub got quite hot – much warmer than I expected for a private hot tub in a boutique hotel in Naxos. It worked normally in my opinion. We used the hot tub daily. It was such an unexpected treat.

THE POOL AT ILIADA SUNSET SUITES
Iliada Sunset Suites has a swanky European pool open to all guests. The pool is done in the infinity style and is complete with 9 loungers set in the water. I would guess the pool is between 3 and 4 feet deep, and it was cold (definitely not heated). That being said, it felt very nice in the heat of the afternoon. We used the pool daily and while we saw other guests there, the pool never felt crowded. Guests can also buy wine and beer (and possibly other drinks) from the front desk to drink at the pool. We, of course, had to have a cold Mythos at the pool!

BREAKFAST AT ILIADA SUNSET SUITES
Iliada Sunset Suites does not have a restaurant on site, but you can easily access many in the heart of Chora with a 10 minute walk. It does, however, put out a delicious breakfast buffet every morning. The menu changes daily and its home made. We went down daily for breakfast and ate some delicious things at Iliada Sunset Suites. My personal favorite, which should come as no surprise to those who know me, were breakfast deviled eggs topped with cilantro. Simply fantastic. I have included some other breakfast pictures for reference, although there was much more. It felt like a Greek grandmother was making you breakfast every morning.

A FEW OTHER NOTES ON ILIADA SUNSET SUITES
A few other notes on Iliada Sunset Suites, wifi is free and fast. I could, unfortunately, log into work. Cleaning service was also offered daily.
We were a bit worried about air conditioning, but it worked very well. We had no complaints. There were individual wall units in both the bedroom and living space that operated well via remote.
Iliada Sunset Suites organized a taxi for us to go to the airport on our last day (do this in advance, as there are only a few taxis on Naxos). Check in is at 15:00 (3:00 PM) and checkout is at 11:00 (AM). The hotel has to be strict on this due to the few rooms it offers.
Iliada Suites also had this very interesting Titanic-esq feature for guests to use. We saw a number of people pretending that they were the King of the Word. You know the scene.

STEAL OUR STAY
Iliada Sunset Suites: We stayed in the Helen Suite. I recommend booking early. There are only 9 rooms at the hotel and only 2 with a hot tub.

An amazing trip. So beautifully described
